What Is A Veteran

During my time of service, military personnel were not appreciated; as a matter of fact we were hated. It was a time when the military members were dealing with extreme prejudice from both the media and US citizens. In some cases areas would be put off limits due to the violence against us and we were also called names and spit at when traveling thru airports in uniform. Times have changed for the military personnel, not only public perception but how missions are completed. However the bottom line is still the same, that a person, be it a brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter, relative, friend or neighbor, puts on a uniform and is willing to perform the tasks they are assigned. They represent about 5% of the population and upon completion of their tour of duty they become Veterans. The initiation fee for each service member to pay to become a veteran vary in price from physical wounds, emotional wounds, destroyed families and more and how each person deals with those costs is a path only they can choose. As veterans we all understand this and can find solace and encouragement within our ranks.

My name is Michael McCain, I am a Veteran.
